Faculty of Science and Mathematics Universitas Diponegoro held Summer Course 2025 themed “Discussion on Emerging Trends in Artificial Intelligence”

Semarang, August 24, 2025-the Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM) of Diponegoro University held a Summer Course 2025 on August 18-24, 2025 with the theme “Discussion on Emerging Trends in Artificial Intelligence”. This Program was attended by 16 students and 1 accompanying lecturer from the University of Malaysia Sabah Anatarbangsa Labuan campus (UMSKAL) Faculty of computing and Informatics. and students from the undip FSM environment.
The series of activities began on Monday, August 18, 2025 with the welcoming of participants at Yogyakarta International Airport and a trip to the Horison Antawirya Semarang Hotel. On the second day, Tuesday, August 19, 2025, participants attended a ceremony with new students of the UNDIP FSM which was officially opened by the dean of the FSM. This activity was followed by an introduction to the campus environment and sharing sessions with the Information Technology Student Association (HMIF) and the Student Executive Board (BEM) FSM.
The core academic Agenda took place on August 20-21, 2025 in the form of an international seminar. Dr. Mohammad Fadhli Bin Asli (UMSKAL) opened the session with the topic of Artificial Intelligence, continued by Dr. Sense Of Urgency, S.T., M.It (UNDIP) describes the material about the Mining Process. Dr. Retno Kusumaningrum, S.Si., M.Kom (UNDIP) then explained the material about Natural Language Processing, while Dr. Aris Praise Widodo, S.Si., M.T. (UNDIP) closes with the topic of AI Literacy for Software Developers. In addition to the seminar, participants also gained practical experience through the workshop “Hands-on Data Visualization with Python”.
On August 22, 2025, participants attended an industrial visit to Indosat Semarang to gain direct insight into the implementation of digital technology and telecommunications in the industrial sector. This activity is an important complement for students in understanding the relationship between artificial intelligence and the professional world of work.
In addition to academic activities, the 2025 Summer Course also introduces Indonesian culture through visits to Batik Benang Raja, Queen City Mall, Lawang Sewu, sharing culture, to climbing Mount Andong.
The official activities of the Summer Course 2025 were closed on Sunday, August 24, 2025 with a closing ceremony at Widya Puraya UNDIP field.
PIC activity Summer Course Henri Tantyoko, S.Kom.,M.Kom in his speech said: "This Summer Course activity is not only a forum for knowledge exchange, especially related to the latest trends in Artificial Intelligence, but also a means of strengthening friendship and cooperation between Indonesian and Malaysian students. We hope this program can produce young people who are adaptive, collaborative, and able to answer global challenges in the field of Science and technology.”
FSM UNDIP emphasized that this program is part of an effort to strengthen international networks, broaden student academic horizons, and encourage research collaboration in the field of Artificial Intelligence and related sciences.
