Introduction to Computational Thinking for Islamic Elementary and Middle School students in Prince Diponegoro Tembalang, Semarang City

Skills in Computational Thinking are one of the most important problem solving techniques nowadays, especially for the next generation to be competitive in this digital economy era. This skill requires students to be able to think to solve problems in the real world.

On this occasion the Community Service Team of the Department of Computer Science / Informatics, Diponegoro University, conducted a Computational Thinking training for students of Islamic Elementary School and Junior High School Diponegoro Tembalang, Semarang City. This service activity was carried out with the Head of Service, Mrs. Dinar M.K. Nugraheni, ST, MInfo Tech (Comp), Ph.D. 

Service activities are carried out online using the Zoom Meeting platform, on Saturday, March 26, 2021, starting at 08.00-12.00 WIB.    

Because this service period is still in the Covid-19 pandemic situation and there are government regulations to carry out social restrictions, community service activities are held online. This activity was attended by 173 students consisting of 48 grade 7 junior high school students, 20 8th grade junior high school students, 42 5th grade elementary school students and 62 6th grade elementary school students.   

The activity began with an opening by Mrs. Dewi Widayani, SH, Spd. As the principal of the Prince Dipoengoro Islamic Elementary School, Semarang Then proceed with the first material is Introduction to Computational Thinking by Mr. Satriyo Adhy, S.Si., MT and the second material is problem solving with Computational thinking by Mr. Muhammad Malik Hakim, S.T., M.T.I.. The program is guided by by Mr. Dr. eng. Adi Wibowo, M.Kom and Mrs. Rismiyati, B.Eng, M.Cs    

By holding this event, it is hoped that students can improve their knowledge of computational thinking and solve problems through computational thinking,
