Know and prevent Social Engineering

In this increasingly advanced digital era, information technology has become an indispensable part of everyday life. However, with the development of technology, there are also threats that need to be watched out for, such as social engineering. Social engineering is a method of psychological manipulation aimed at obtaining personal information or hacking systems through fraud and social engineering.
On this occasion, the community service team of the Department of Computer Science / Information Technology, Universitas Diponegoroconducted a takjil sharing activity and introduced local teenagers to Social Engineering and ways to prevent it in Meteseh Village, Tembalang, Semarang. This service activity was carried out by the chairman of the Service Mrs. Dinar Mutiara Kusumo Nugraheni, S.T., M.InfoTech.(Comp)., Ph.D. and Mrs. Beta Noranita, S.Si., M.Kom..
The service activity was held offline at Meteseh Village, Tembalang, Semarang, on Saturday, April 15, 2023 starting at 15.30-18.30 WIB. This activity was attended by youth karang taruna totaling 36 people.
The activity began by distributing takjil containing food and pamphlets containing social Engineering prevention content to the surrounding community by the devotion team and the youth of karang taruna. Then continued with the material with the theme “Know and prevent Social Engineering” presented by brother Dany. Then the event ended with breaking the fast together between the dedication team and the teenagers.
By holding this service, it is hoped that the youth of taruna karang can increase awareness, knowledge, and technology skills. Local communities can be more resilient to attacks and protect their personal information. Through collaboration with karang taruna youth, prevention efforts can be effectively disseminated, providing long-term benefits for rural communities in living a safe digital life.
