Parental control usage guide for parents of Tunas Harapan Islamic kindergarten Semarang

Monitoring kids activity in using gadget was a task that needs to be done by parents. For that the informatics/computer science perpetuation team feeel the necessity to give knowledge regarding how to use gadget and technology wisely. Previously the team did an early research in form of a survey towards students parents at the Tunas Harapan Semarang Islamic kindergarten. The result is 98% of kindergarten students uses gadget, and the parents hadn’t done a monitoring towards the kids activity with the gadget. And then on 21 october 2017, the team that consist of 5 members/lecturers led by Ragil Saputra, S.Si, MCs and with members consisting Priyo Sidik Sasongko, S.Si, M.Kom, Satriyo Adhy, S.Si, MT, Helmie Arif W, S.Si, M.Cs and also Rismiyati, B.Sc, M.Cs did a training on how to use the parental control application to monitor kid’s gadget.
This perpetuation was aligned with the parenting program that was done gradually by the school. Just like the school chief Atiek Mardiyani, SE, S.Pd. “As a parent we cant be outdated by the technology, we have to follow the development of technology so that we can utilize gadget for a good purpose to help kids in learning”, she added. In This perpetuation, there was a training regarding how to utilize technology and informatics wisely, and also to choose and use a parental control app that suits the kid’s need. Generally this parental control app has 3 main function: filtering, monitoring, and scheduling. In this opportunity, the introduced app was Kakatu, screen time, kids and and qustodio. Besides trying a few application, participants was also given counseling regarding the positive and negative of technology. And also how to use them wisely to support child’s growth and development.
