Teachers of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Semarang join AI-based animation training for Innovative Digital Learning

Semarang-a total of 23 teachers of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Semarang participated in an AI-based animation training for innovative Digital learning transformation, which was held on Monday, April 20, 2026. This activity took place one day at the Computer Laboratory of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Semarang which was a collaboration with the Diponegoro University Informatics Community Service Team.
This training is focused on making learning animation videos by utilizing the free version of the Powtoon application as a creative and interactive digital learning support media. The activity aims to improve the competence of teachers in presenting interesting, contextual learning, and in accordance with the needs of learners in the era of digital transformation.
The head of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Semarang, Mrs. Masrochatun, S.Pd, in his speech said that this activity is a strategic step for schools in encouraging teachers to continue to innovate in learning. "Teachers are required not only to master the material, but also to be able to present it in an interesting and relevant way with technological developments. This training is expected to be a provision for teachers to create more meaningful learning for students,” he said.
Meanwhile, the speech from the community service team of Diponegoro University was delivered by Mr. Priyo Sidik Sasongko, S.Si., M.Kom, which emphasizes the importance of utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) - based technology in education. "AI-based animations, such as those provided by Powtoon, make it easy for teachers to create visual learning media without having to have advanced design skills. This is a practical solution in supporting the transformation of digital learning in schools, " he explained.
During the training, the participants received materials on the introduction of AI-based animation, principles of effective learning video design, as well as hands-on practice in creating animated videos using Powtoon. The teachers seemed enthusiastic to follow each session, from account creation, template selection, animation settings, to the export of learning videos.
Through this activity, it is expected that the teachers of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Semarang are able to produce animative learning videos that can be used directly in teaching and learning activities, both in the classroom and through online learning platforms, so that the quality of learning is increasing and innovative.
