Training On The Use Of Graphic Design As A Media For Innovative Information Socialization In Mayong District, Jepara

Jepara, February 26, 2025-Mayong District Office, Jepara, witnessed the implementation of community service activities entitled “utilizing graphic design as a media for innovative information socialization for village officials”. This activity was organized by the community service team of the Department of Informatics, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Universitas Diponegoro and was attended by representatives from 18 villages in Mayong District, represented by Carik and Village IT operators.
The event was officially opened by Camat Mayong, Mrs. Umrotun, S.Sos., M.H., who in his speech fully appreciated the implementation of this training. According to him, graphic design skills are becoming an increasingly important requirement for village officials in conveying effective information to the community. In addition, the chairman of the Department of Informatics Universitas Diponegoro, Dr. Aris Sugiharto, S.Si., M.Kom., also gave a speech, emphasizing the importance of innovation in digital communication for village governments.
This activity presents the speaker Sandy Kurniawan, S.Kom., M.Kom., which delivers materials related to the utilization of graphic design for effective communication. Participants were given an understanding of the basic principles of graphic design and how to utilize the Canva platform as a medium for creating easy-to-use digital graphic design. In addition to the theoretical exposure, the training session was also equipped with a live demonstration of design creation using Canva, which was enthusiastically welcomed by the participants.
Throughout the training, the participants seemed very active in discussing and trying out the features in Canva. With this training, it is expected that village officials can be more creative and innovative in preparing socialization materials and information that can be easily understood by the community.
Camat Mayong expressed his hope that such training can continue and provide real benefits for the village apparatus in improving the quality of communication and service to the community. Participants also revealed that this training was very useful, especially in introducing how to quickly and efficiently create interesting and informative designs.
The community service team of the Department of Informatics, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Universitas Diponegoro is committed to contributing to the improvement of digital literacy and the use of technology for the community. With the success of this activity, it is hoped that in the future village officials in Mayong Sub-District will be able to utilize digital technology to support their tasks, as well as provide more innovative and interesting information for the village community.
